What is the difference between electric, hybrid, and plug-in models?
Electric cars only use an electric motor for energy, which is powered by a battery. Hybrid vehicles have a drivetrain that includes both an electric motor and a gasoline engine, and they use power from both equally. Plug-in hybrid vehicles like the Prius Prime have the same mechanical design, but they generally rely more heavily on electricity for power, and therefore, can offer a more extended range. As previously mentioned, fuel cell vehicles are electric, but differ because they utilize hydrogen to generate electricity rather than drawing power from a battery.
How far can Toyota's electrified models go?
Range varies by vehicle. The Venza gets 30 miles of combined MPG, while the RAV4 Hybrid gets 40 miles of combined MPG, and the Highlander's combined MPG is 36 miles. The Corolla reaches 52 miles combined, and the Prius gets up to 49 miles combined. The Prius Prime offers even greater efficiency with a 54/133 MPG/MPGe rating.
Do Toyota's hybrid SUVs have towing capacity?
The Highlander Hybrid has the highest tow rating of Toyota's hybrid lineup with a towing capacity of 3,500 pounds. The RAV4 can tow up to 2,500 pounds.
