Toyota Electrified Vehicles for Sale in Houston
Does Toyota offer an all-electric car?
Toyota offers several hybrid models that combine gas and electric power. The automaker also offers a fuel cell electric vehicle (FCEVs) called the Mirai that produces electricity from hydrogen, unlike traditional EVs that are powered by a battery. No matter which body style you choose - sedan, SUV or minivan - Toyota's electrified cars offer efficiency and superior fuel economy while still providing the classic advantages of a Toyota, such as top-notch safety amenities, style and comfort.
Additionally, Toyota plans to expand to around 70 electrified models globally by 2025. This future lineup will include several all-electric models under Toyota's new bZ (Beyond Zero) brand moniker. In April 2021, Toyota debuted its all-electric bZ4X Concept, an SUV prototype that gives a peak at what's ahead.
Which Toyota models are electrified?
Toyota's extensive electrified vehicle lineup includes the following cars and SUVs:
- Venza
- RAV4
- RAV4 Prime
- Highlander Hybrid
- Corolla Hybrid
- Camry Hybrid
- Avalon Hybrid
- Sienna
- Prius
- Prius Prime
- Mirai
The Toyota Venza, RAV4, and Highlander are all SUVs that use electric and gas power for energy. The Venza uses a hybrid powertrain to get a best-in-class fuel rating of 39 MPG combined. The Venza features a sleek and attractive design and a cutting-edge cabin. The RAV4 is a sporty SUV that also has an impressive range and fuel economy. The Highlander is one of Toyota's largest hybrid SUVs. It is designed to haul your family around while simultaneously minimizing the number of stops you make at the gas station. The Corolla is a comfortable sedan that seats five. It is now available as a hybrid to provide excellent fuel economy, too. The Camry, one of Toyota's most popular vehicles, offers a tremendous range and top-notch safety and technology. The Sienna Hybrid minivan hauls large families while providing optimal efficiency, and the Prius remains Toyota's flagship hybrid car that remains a bestseller. The Mirai is a spacious midsize car with a long driving range that gets its electric power from hydrogen.
What is the difference between electric, hybrid, and plug-in models?
Electric cars only use an electric motor for energy, which is powered by a battery. Hybrid vehicles have a drivetrain that includes both an electric motor and a gasoline engine, and they use power from both equally. Plug-in hybrid vehicles like the Prius Prime have the same mechanical design, but they generally rely more heavily on electricity for power, and therefore, can offer a more extended range. As previously mentioned, fuel cell vehicles are electric, but differ because they utilize hydrogen to generate electricity rather than drawing power from a battery.
How far can Toyota's electrified models go?
Range varies by vehicle. The Venza gets 30 miles of combined MPG, while the RAV4 Hybrid gets 40 miles of combined MPG, and the Highlander's combined MPG is 36 miles. The Corolla reaches 52 miles combined, and the Prius gets up to 49 miles combined. The Prius Prime offers even greater efficiency with a 54/133 MPG/MPGe rating.
Do Toyota's hybrid SUVs have towing capacity?
The Highlander Hybrid has the highest tow rating of Toyota's hybrid lineup with a towing capacity of 3,500 pounds. The RAV4 can tow up to 2,500 pounds.
