The 2025 espnW: Women + Sports Summit in Ojai, CA, proved to be an inspiring celebration for women athletes as well as for Toyota. The company takes immense pride in its Toyota Everyday Heroes program, and 2025 marked the milestone 10th anniversary of honoring these remarkable individuals. Girls and women were acknowledged for their meaningful contributions to sports and received a $15,000 award in recognition of their efforts.
The 10th Class of Toyota Everyday Heroes
Toyota ambassador Jess Sims was on-site at the summit to present the awards during the espnW: Women + Sport Summit, an influential gathering that has been running for 13 years. Over the course of three days, Toyota highlighted the 2026 RAV4, the 2025 Toyota 4Runner, and most importantly, the exceptional girls and women selected as Toyota Everyday Heroes. The announcement was truly uplifting.
"Toyota is proud to honor Jessica Carter of HER Sports and Amberly Klam of Texas Fury as the 2025 Everyday Heroes for their outstanding work using sports to create opportunities and empowerment within their communities," shared MJ Kroll, senior manager of media at Toyota Motor North America.
Jessica Carter, a former college basketball player from Virginia, founded HER Sports to help girls in her community gain the many benefits of sports participation. For her, it’s about ensuring every girl has a fair chance to thrive. HER Sports now serves roughly 400 girls and offers four major programs.
Amberly Klam was also recognized in this year’s class of Everyday Heroes. She established the Texas Fury flag football organization and actively encourages girls to take part in this growing sport. Inspired by her daughter Ashlea’s passion for flag football, Klam aims to open more doors for girls interested in the game.
Toyota expressed excitement about once again supporting the espnW Women + Sport Summit and showcasing some of its latest innovations to attendees. The three-day event was meaningful both for the athletes and for Toyota, and the company looks forward to continuing its involvement in future espnW initiatives that uplift people through sports.
