Joe Myers Toyota is proud to announce that one of our very own technicians, Carl Smith, took first place at this year's Master Diagnostic Technician Skills Competition! Smith battled against 14 other technicians in the five-hour grueling skills competition, which was made up of five individual testing stations. Judged on his diagnostic strategy, Smith exceeded expectations and was able to successfully complete the competition to become Gulf States Toyota's Master Diagnostic Technician.
To qualify for the competition, Smith first had to take a 15-hour Master Diagnostic Technician written test. He then had to write a series of Dealer Product Reports to support Toyota product quality improvement. When all was said and done, Smith was one of 136 technicians in the Gulf States Toyota Technical staff to achieve the Master Diagnostics Technician ranking. A mere 15 individuals out of the group from four different states were then chosen to compete in the MDT Skills Competition, which included Smith. Each of the trained technicians went head to head in the competition for a chance to show off their skills and come out on top. Everyone did their best, but in the end, Smith nabbed the number-one spot, bringing home a win for Joe Myers Toyota.
