In 2020, the Toyota Sequoia gets some new features that consumers can look forward to. The family also expands with the addition of a TRD Pro trim. While there's a new trim level this year with its own unique features, there are some changes that come standard across the board. Now, the 2020 Toyota Sequoia gets a new seven-inch infotainment display screen. It also comes standard with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay for the first time.
The latest Sequoia looks the part of a city-savvy SUV from the outside, but underneath, it gets an updated suspension system that gives it more off-road capabilities than before. Despite these changes, this year's Sequoia is still part of the second generation of the Sequoia that dates back to 2008. While it has some new features to enjoy this year, the SUV also retains some of its fan-favorite features from the past. This includes one of the largest cargo storage capacities of its class and exceptionally smooth and comfortable ride quality.
The SUV also has impressive off-road capabilities. Inside, it has a spacious, versatile, and well-equipped interior complete with a flexible seating arrangement and plenty of amenities.
There are five trim levels in the 2020 Toyota Sequoia lineup. The base trim is the SR5, followed by the TRD Sport, TRD Pro, Limited, and Platinum. All five trims share some exterior, interior, and mechanical features. They are all powered by the same engine and have the same transmission. However, there are some distinct differences among the trims, too. The SR5 comes standard with 18-inch wheels and LED headlights on the outside.
Inside, it gets a three-zone climate control system, a power-adjustable driver's seat, a split-folding rear seat, and standard seating for eight. Its technology includes a seven-inch infotainment display screen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The base trim also gets an eight-speaker sound system and a variety of standard safety features. Some additional options are available through a package.
The TRD Sport gets some mechanical changes, including Bilstein dampers and anti-roll bars. A black roof rack and black grille insert give it a unique look. The TRD Pro gets fog lights, unique emblems, running boards, all-weather floor mats, and Fox shocks. The Limited gets more exterior changes, including auto-dimming side mirrors and a power-adjustable liftgate. Its interior gets a slight audio upgrade with a 14-speaker JBL sound system. The Platinum features captain's chairs, heated seats, and adaptive suspension.
All trim levels of the 2020 Toyota Sequoia are powered by a 5.7L engine with eight cylinders that produce up to 381 HP and 401 LB-FT of torque. This engine is coupled with a six-speed automatic transmission. While rear-wheel drive comes standard across the board, you can choose four-wheel drive if you prefer.
The Sequoia has plenty of safety amenities across the board. The base trim is equipped with automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. It also comes standard with parking sensors in the front and back. Advanced airbags and seat belts are standard in all trims.
