What's New for the 2018 Toyota 4Runner

If you are in the market for a truck-based SUV with considerable size and performance capabilities, a closer look at the 2018 Toyota 4Runner is in order. Compared to last year's 4Runner, buyers this year can choose between the new Wilderness package and the TRD Enhancement package. These options are in addition to the other packages that were available in the 2017 model. In addition, if you opt for the 4Runner TRD Pro trim level, you can choose from three new colors available for 2018. These are Cavalry Blue, Midnight Black and Super White. As is the case with last year's SUV, this year's SUV is available with passenger seating for five to seven adults.

2018 4Runner Trims & Features

In order to please most drivers, Toyota offers the 2018 4Runner in a full range of trim levels at various price points. This includes the entry-level SR5, the SR5 Premium and the SR5 4x4. Other more sophisticated options available include the TRD Off-Road, the SR5 Premium 4x4, the TRD Off-Road Premium 4x4, the TRD Pro 4x4, the Limited and the Limited 4x4. On the lower end of the spectrum, the SR5 trim for 2018 is equipped with power windows, an emergency communication feature, an integrated key and remote, keyless entry, a touchscreen entertainment feature and more. The Limited trim levels have other standard equipment available that will take your driving experience to new heights. These features include a sunshade, door mirror memory, numerous power outlets, a voice-activated navigation system and other thoughtful features. Keep in mind that the new Wilderness package is only available on the lower trims, and it gives you a cargo tray, all-weather floor mats and roof rack crossbars. The TRD Enhancement package is only available in the most advanced trim levels. It gives you a front skid plate and 17-inch gray matte alloy wheels. The 4Runner is a larger SUV that sits on a truck-based frame. It has exceptional power capabilities that will impress you when you test drive it. The base engine in the SR5 model delivers impressive power and performance. It has a 270-horsepower, V6, 4.0-liter engine. It also comes with rear-wheel drive and a five-speed automatic transmission with overdrive functionality. This same engine configuration is notably the base engine available in the most advanced Limited 4x4 trim. However, this superior trim level features a four-wheel drive drivetrain. U.S. News gave the 2018 model a safety rating of 8.5 out of ten points. IIHS gave the 2018 4Runner a "good" rating in four out of five safety tests. This is the highest rating that it offers. The NHTSA gave the 4Runner a four-star overall safety rating out of a possible five stars. Most trim levels for 2018 have similar safety features as standard equipment. Some of these include turn signals in the side mirrors, four-wheel ABS, rear seating area child safety seat latches and child door locks, fog lights, a remote anti-theft feature, an engine immobilizer, many airbags and numerous other features that will give you confidence on the road.
