All eyes were on the 2016 Toyota RAV4 SE at the recent Olympus Rally in Shelton, Washington. That’s where Ryan Millen pushed the SUV toward winning the 2WD Class, and pulling ahead of all but four 4WD competitors. The victory was marked by a gap of more than five minutes ahead of the nearest in-class competitor.

“We know that thousands of hours have gone into the engineering of the RAV4, and we don’t mess with a good thing,” said Millen. “To be honest, I was a bit skeptical when we first started development, but even out of the box, the RAV4 is bulletproof. And it’s really amazing how much speed you can carry. You wouldn’t expect a vehicle this size to handle and turn the way it does.”

The win wasn’t easy. With over 100 stage miles over two days and over 2 hours of race time, the Toyota really took a beating; however, it forged on with ease. At every viewing area spectators were able to watch as the RAV4 pushed ahead of several makes and models of more powerful vehicles from different classes.

Usually, race vehicles are modified with exotic racing-specific hardware, but this was not the case for the 2016 Toyota RAV4. In fact, it competed with its stock powerplant and automatic transmission, which further highlighted its capabilities as a stock vehicle.

Motivated by a 2.5-liter four-cylinder that produces 176 horsepower and 172 lb.-ft. of torque, the 2016 Toyota RAV4 will get you to where you need to go in no time. A six-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive are standard while all-wheel drive is optional.
