The 2016 Toyota Sienna is making quite the impression on some national publications – so much so that it was recently named as one of the 10 best family cars of the year, as well as the winner in the Best Minivan category. The accolades were handed down by Edmunds.com and Parent’s magazine.
The two outlets looked at things like safety, comfort and capacity, fuel efficiency, interior and exterior craftsmanship, and unique design features that all set the selected vehicles apart from the rest of the pack.
In one recent write-up, Parents magazine praised the Sienna’s design by saying, “The endlessly roomy Sienna stands above its competitors for two reasons: It’s the only one with available all-wheel drive, and the especially user-friendly controls help you stay focused on the road.”
Available in five trim trims, L, LE, SE, XLE and Limited, the 2016 Sienna comes packed with plenty of state-of-the-art safety tech and high-tech features.
Safety-wise, the family-favorite minivan comes standard with an army of airbags: front-seat side airbags, full-length side curtain airbags, a driver-side knee airbag and a front passenger seat cushion airbag. There’s also antilock brakes, and stability and traction control. Aside from all these standard features, purchasers of the Sienna can also opt for blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and front and rear parking sensors.
In government testing, the Sienna earned a four-star rating for total front crash protection and five stars for total side crash protection.
Every new Sienna gets a touchscreen interface with easy-to-use buttons, allowing you to stay more focused on the road. There’s also the optional rear-seat entertainment unit, which has a split-screen monitor that allows a movie on one side and a video game on the other to play simultaneously.
