Houston is host to endless amounts of outdoor activities with its ample green spaces. In fact, a recent study shows that it has the most park space out of our nation’s 10 biggest cities. With more than 100 miles of hiking and biking trails, it’s the perfect place for anyone who enjoys the great outdoors.

Here are a few must-see places in Houston:

Discovery Green

If you like parks, you’ll have to check out Discovery Green, which recently celebrated its seventh year in downtown Houston. The city's warm climate makes this urban park the perfect place to visit throughout the year. Discovery Green truly has something for everyone and offers numerous free events, like a water spray area, children’s story time, outdoor fitness classes and outdoor movies.

Terry Hershey Park

Featuring 500 acres of lush green space in West Houston, Terry Hershey Park offers fun for the whole family, including your furry friends, who are welcome as well, but have to be on a leash. Walk, run or bike down the paved Anthills trail with family and friends and enjoy gorgeous scenery, while you exercise. This pristine park also has a butterfly garden, picnic tables, a boat/kayak launch, a wetland habitat and a playground.

Hermann Park

Located in the heart of downtown Houston, Hermann Park offers 445 acres of green space. It's home to an outdoor amphitheater, the Houston Zoo and the Miller Outdoor Theatre. Catch a free outdoor movie, concert, theatrical performance and more at this Houston gem! Additionally, the park offers a 2-mile hike and bike trail under historic oak trees, as well as lush gardens, a playground for the kiddos and paddle boat rentals.
